When you join our talented team, you will be involved in PLC programming, testing computer hardware for sawmill scanning systems and going to customer sites for startup / commissioning of upgrades and new systems. You’ll start your time with us learning our work process and being trained on the hardware and software used by our customers. Once you’ve got that down, you’ll work with us to provide a high level of technical customer support over the phone and eventually modifying the existing PLC software for specific customer which you will then install on site.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, willing to learn, and likes to improve and advance existing software and automation processes.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with other team members to modify existing core PLC program for upgrades and new sawmill automation systems
- Test / modify / verify PLC programs installations on site / in the field
- Aid sawmill electricians in wiring and electrical trouble shooting
- Provide post-sales technical support and product education on our PLC automation software
- Work closely with other team members to reproduce and resolve customer issues
- Work with other team member to plan layout of PLC system components, operator consoles and other sawmill equipment sold by RyKen.
- CAD documentation of our PLC IO and general automation system layout
Qualifications:
- Rockwell (Allen Bradley) PLC Experience (other PLC experience may be substituted)
- Sawmill or other industrial system experience
- 2years’ software development experience in C++ development
- Experience with field wiring, various laser sensor in an Industrial system.
- Understanding of basic electronics and electrical systems
- Ability to work with old and new automation systems.

- Physically fit to work in a sawmill environment
- Willing to travel
- Must currently be able to work in Canada

- MFC and .NET
- Web programming experience
